Girl Plays Jazz facilitates this special, one-off introduction to jazz workshop for girls aged 8-16.

What to expect

The girls will play different styles including swing, funk, and free jazz, with the support of a professional jazz band, culminating in a showcase performance that evening.

Minimum of 2 years tuition on instrument/voice required, but no experience in improvisation needed. Participants will need to bring their own instruments to use throughout the workshop and evening performance.

About Girl Plays Jazz

The Girl Plays Jazz Project is dedicated to supporting and promoting girls and young women in jazz. They ofone-day day workshops to introduce girls to jazz, blues, funk, blues and world music improvisation, and to develop girls and young women as jazz musicians. In March 2019 they performed at Ronnie Scott’s, and in May performed at the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development’s Policy Awards.
