Grand Union Orchestra: Bengal, Bhangra and the Blues

Grand Union Orchestra return, led by renowned table maesto Yousuf Ali Khan, exploring musical meetings of the Asian sub-continent with styles like reggae, salsa and jazz.
What to expect
Following the success of Trading Roots last autumn, exploring Black music for Black History Month, musicians from the Grand Union Orchestra return with a new project, Bengal, Bhangra and the Blues, in celebration of International Mother Language Day.
Led by Yousuf Ali Khan, this time the focus is on the music of the Asian sub-continent – including Bengali songs, bhangra and classical ragas, combined with other contemporary styles like reggae, salsa and jazz. Grand Union Orchestra brings together singers and instrumentalists from around the world to create a spectacular live experience.
The band will be joined by the young participants of the free instrumental workshops, in collaboration with Spotlight and Poplar Union. Find out more here.
