Nari Chetona presents: British Bengali Women at a Glance

As part of our Women in Focus Festival, Nari Chetona will bring the success stories, ideas and intellectual interpretation of feminism from South Asian perspective through insightful talks, poetry, colourful dance and captivating music.
Coordinated by East-London based women’s right campaigner and cultural activists Syeda Naznin and Sultana Sikha, the evening will feature talks on gender equality from UPF ambassador for peace and political advisor Rohema Miah, the founder of Inspire Networks and a business leader Rabi Atiti, co-founder and director of grassroots International human rights organisation RestlessBeings Rahima Begum, and prominent social justice campaigner Jasmin Chowdhury.
Alongside music, poetry and dance, award-winning photographer Pablo Khaled will be exhibiting work surrounding Tagore’s idea of female empowerment through re-creating iconic characters from his short stories and personal life.
The evening will also highlight the achievement of British Bengali women here in the UK through a short awards ceremony, celebrating female leaders in literature, theatre, music and politics.
