Saffa Abdi: Rebirth

This poem is about a young man that goes through a rebirth and explores the grief that comes with this transformation. So often we focus on the triumphant nature of rebirths. Here we can look at the emptiness that comes with no longer being the person we once were and the pain of having to face who we truly are.

Serena Dwyer-Jones: Fine

Dealing with difficult customers can make it a struggle to pull yourself together. Evelyn has found that having to draw a line between her professional persona and idealised self is leading her to an identity crisis.

Vikram Grover: The Latchkey Kid

The Latchkey Kid – Uganda, 1972. A young girl questions her ideas of home and identity when both are removed from her. ‘The Latchkey Kid’ explores how identity is something created by the journey rather than the destination, where the story of an immigrant then has created a sense of belonging now.

Khadijah Hayden: Black Love

For many people love can be very hard to define. Our perceptions of love can often be tainted by unrealistic goals or trauma from childhood or past relationships. Black Love is a candid conversation between two sisters on the state of relationships and the meaning of love and what one desires and if said desires are in fact possible to achieve.

Mariana Mballo: Kings And Queen With Broken Souls

Unpacking emotional baggage on a foreign land, they are trying to find their inner peace but the colour of their skin is a danger to society. From red and blue flashing lights to RIP, heartbreaks and misery, these broken souls just want to be seen.

Aaliyah Mckay: Cold Water

Cold water is a piece based around Sharon Willis who has been told to take the stand after hearing the murder of he neighbours wife and she being the only witness.

Emma Nwachuku: Three Years

Childhood friends Ify and Grace haven’t spoken in three years. After Grace initiates contact, the pair decide to meet for dinner. The evening spirals as the two discuss their toxic friendship.

Emanuel Vuso: I Hate It Here

I Hate It Here is an intimate, lyrical journey of identity in South London, showing you a perspective that we don’t usually see…
