What's On

Sunday Assembly East End – 2nd Birthday!

Sunday Assembly East End is turning 2! Come and celebrate with them!

Connect! At Sunday Assembly we’re all about building authentic connection – with ourselves (‘Live Better’), others (‘Help Often’) and the world around us (‘Wonder More’). To mark the launch of our new Social Prescribing project in which we’ll be recruiting volunteer ‘Community Connectors’, for this assembly we’ll be exploring connection as a fundamental human need.

To help us, we’ll be joined by some expert, multi talented connectors, including Dr Robin Lamboll; a physicist, solar cell expert, spoken word artist, and endangered balloon animal maker (!), and Jack Miguel; a poet, rapper in hip hop trio Strangelove, and multi disciplinary artist with an interest in modern masculinity. They’ll be helping us to see the connections between disparate disciplines, between mind, body, between the world around us and the world inside of us.

We’re also welcoming back the incredible Camden Voices choir, who helped us launch our community way back in May 2016 – they’ll be leading the singing along with the East End choir, as well as performing solo pieces.

Plus our usual singalongs, shared wisdom, and instant coffee fuelled community building!

Social Prescribing’ is a holistic approach to healthcare and community development which recognises that people’s mental, physical and social needs are intimately linked, and supports people to take greater control of their own health.

We’ll be working with Poplar HARCA and the Well One Partnership to recruit and train volunteer ’Community Connectors’, who will support local people to access opportunities and activities which can help them meet their needs. We’ll also continue to provide opportunities for connection, friendship, learning and celebration via our monthly assemblies and other activities.

More details to be announced, but please don’t hesitate to contact samweatherald@sundayassembly.com if you’d like to register your interest.
