Tale of Tawaifs – Indian Semi Classical Music Workshop

Discover the art of music, intricate costumes, and stage design with Kalakar Arts. Our experienced, award-winning artists will host interactive, skill-building music and drama workshops leading to real-life performances.
Kalakar Arts has meticulously researched and promoted the cause of bringing the rich heritage, life, and music of ‘Tawaifs’ who were celebrated artists skilled in the art of classical and semi-classical music, dance and theatre.
With support from the National Heritage Lottery Fund, we will be performing a grand musical describing the lives of Tawaifs in prestigious venues in London. The workshops at Poplar Union provide a unique chance for participants to be part of these exciting performances while also acquiring skills such as appreciation of music, script writing, costume and stage set design, volunteering, acting and team building. Kalakar Arts will work with IndianRaga London.
Who are the workshops for?
We would like to invite children 16 years old and above and adults from all walks of life and skill levels.
