The Power of Photography is an inclusive participatory photography project to enable young people with little or no experience of photography to develop their own artistic practice while building their confidence in a playful way.

What to expect

Using the participants’ own cameras (this includes a smart phone camera), this project aims to help young people to use photography to reach their personal goals. Each session will start with an introduction to the topic, and a review of the previous weeks’ photos. The sessions will be designed to incrementally build skills and confidence. At the end of the 8-week online course, we will have an exhibition at Poplar Union.

Please book your course ticket by selecting the 28 October and this will give you access to the whole 8-week course. Advance booking is essential. If you can’t commit to all 8 weeks, you can book for individual dates. If you have any questions about the workshops, please get in touch – info@poplarunion.com.

“I’m a photographer and workshop facilitator living in East London. My photographs have been published in The Guardian, the BBC, Geographical, and in 2020 I’ve been shortlisted for The Wellcome Photography Prize. As a photographer who is passionate about human resilience and compassion, I’m helping find solutions through doing photography workshops to explore the poetics of daily life in a playful way.”
